Join our team as a Produce Category Manager, where you’ll lead the strategic management and daily operations of assigned vendors, items, and categories. This role involves procuring and managing inventory to meet seasonal, promotional, and daily demands, ensuring exceptional product service levels, and driving category profitability. As a key contributor, you’ll develop programs, establish operating standards, negotiate cost savings, and foster strong vendor relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage inventory and vendor relationships to meet promotional and operational needs.
• Lead vendor negotiations to secure competitive pricing and achieve cost reductions.
• Collaborate with suppliers to introduce new items and maximize sales and profitability.
• Monitor and maintain integrity in product pricing and promotional strategies.
• Analyze sales performance, track profitability, and execute category reviews.
• Partner with internal teams to ensure seamless program launches and updates.
• Act as a liaison between Retail Operations and the Buying Department, ensuring clear communication across teams.
• Stay informed on market trends, conduct competitive analysis, and adjust strategies accordingly.
• Attend trade shows to identify opportunities and maintain industry connections.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in produce retail buying or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of produce grades and standards.
• Proven ability to analyze data, generate actionable insights, and develop reports.
• Expertise in produce procurement and vendor management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Demonstrated success in driving sales, profit growth, cost reduction, and loss prevention through negotiation.
• A strong work ethic and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
