Sous Chef | Upscale Seafood & Steak

We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to help lead the culinary team at an Upscale Seafood restaurant. As a Sous Chef, you will play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of culinary excellence, overseeing kitchen operations, and collaborating with the executive chef to create exquisite dishes.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Culinary Excellence: Ensure all dishes meet the highest standards of taste, presentation, and quality.
  • Kitchen Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, including food preparation, cooking, and plating. Monitor kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow, adherence to recipes, and strict compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to kitchen staff, including chefs, line cooks, and prep cooks. Foster a positive work environment, promote teamwork, and inspire creativity and passion for culinary excellence.
  • Food Cost and Inventory Control: Assist in managing food cost by monitoring inventory levels, minimizing waste, and implementing effective portion control. Collaborate with the Executive Chef and management team to develop and maintain a comprehensive inventory management system.
  • Quality Control: Maintain a strong focus on quality control throughout the kitchen. Conduct regular inspections to ensure proper food storage, handling, and cleanliness. Implement corrective actions as needed to maintain the highest level of sanitation and hygiene standards.
  • Staff Training and Development: Assist in training and developing kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques, plating presentations, and adherence to recipes and standards. Conduct regular training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge within the kitchen team.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum two (2) years experience as a Sous Chef/Kitchen Manager in an upscale/fine dining setting
  • Strong culinary skills and a deep understanding of fine dining cuisine.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Creative mindset and a passion for culinary innovation.
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle pressure.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
